Sammy, what are you doing?

It's not that "I have a lot going on" — it's that "there's a lot I'm trying to do." My hands may be pretty full, but as long as it doesn't cross into the dreaded 'overwhelming' territory, we'll be just fine.

The Eco Arcade

An arcade game like Wasted Space is really only properly experienced on a full-size arcade machine. So, I'm going to attempt building one! I am aiming to have it done in time to bring to Earth Day Omaha later this spring. It'll be equal parts promotion of Terrabyte, environmental education, and a conversation-starter of what environmentalism can even look like.

Pixel Peeps Wallpaper Club

Last year, I launched a Patreon that rewards subscribers with a new pixel art wallpaper every month. The designs incorporate Pixel Planet Today designs, environmental themes, or other pixel-y goodness. If you're interested in supporting my work and getting some cool wallpapers, I'd encourage you to check it out!

Earth Day Omaha

As a board member for the Green Omaha Coalition, I'm also helping plan this year's Earth Day Omaha event! Being my second EDO, I'm excited to help make it bigger and better than ever.

Pixel Planet Today

The world is constantly calling for environmental facts and pixel art: making this the project that never sleeps. I am trying to get into a more consistent posting schedule, but I got a lot going on... For not a lack of will, but a lack of time.

Birding

I was raised on the outdoors, but as I got older, my studies and work grew to take up more and more of my free time. And now living in a big city, it can sometimes feel like I'm more disconnected to the natural world than my environmental work would suggest (and more than I would like). That was, until my brother introduced me to birding. I was skeptical on if I would actually enjoy it (or if it was an 'old person activity' like I previously thought), but it's a great way to get outside, connect with local wildlife, and be more mindful of what's out there.

I'm on eBird!

Reading

With the new year, a new reading goal (8 books). Currently, I'm reading "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson. Other books on my TBR for the year include "The Phoenix Project" and "They Both Die at the End."

Omaha & Nebraska Public Transportation Plan

Because I'm such an urbanism nerd, something that I've found myself doing is creating a map that outlines where public transportation improvements could be made in Omaha and other Central Nebraska locations. Do I expect these ideas to bloom to fruition? Not at all, but if they did - boy, I'd be one happy camper.
